Charter Communications proposed a separate deal that would enable it to purchase both Spectrum Cable and Bright House Networks but that deal as of early 2016 hasn't been finalized.Spectrum Cable originated in 1992 following the merger of Time Inc.'s cable television company and Warner Cable.Through 2014, Spectrum Cable was available to 14.6 million basic cable subscribers and 8.8 million digital cable subscribers.In 2011, Spectrum Cable purchased Insight Communications for $3 billion. This increased Spectrum Cable's customer base by 760,000 people.In 2008 and 2009, Spectrum Cable began testing data metered plans in Texas and New York. Currently they offer rather large data packages and will send an email when a customer is approaching their limit.
